The sun is shining and it's a beautiful, cool day. Hooray!
Yesterday, after the rain stopped, I drove into my little hamlet to pick up the mail from the post office. When I came out to the car, I glanced down to see that I had an almost completely flat tire! Gee whiz! I limped the car over to the two convenience stores in the hamlet, and neither had an air compressor. Sigh.
I decided to drive carefully home - only 7 miles! I took the back roads where I took a lot of the photos of flooded roads and pastures. I came to one place in the road that was covered with quite a bit of water, but had seen another car come through, so I figured it was OK. I started through, and half way in I realized this was pretty dad-gummed deep! The car was losing momentum - I think I'd lost traction! Oh, crap, if I end up off the road, hubby will absolutely have my head! I kept giving the poor car more gas, hoping the tires would have a paddle-wheel effect and propel me through the water, all the while yelling, "Keep going, car! Keep going, car!". I eventually felt the wheels hit ground again, and the little red car managed to find its way to solid road again! Gee whiz, I felt like a total dim bulb!
Hubby aired up my flat this morning. I suppose a trip to the tire shop is on the agenda for today.
