When I was little, Mom and Dad would take my brother and me to the lake to hike and play. I remember picking Indian Paintbrush and taking it home, hoping I could plant it and have Paintbrush growing in the back yard. It never worked, but I never ceased to try.
I finally have Indian Paintbrush in my yard. We only had a few when we moved here, but every year it spreads. I've seen one plant put out white flowers. If I find it this year, I'll have to get a shot of it. It's down by MIL's house.... she's probably mowed it down already.
I had big plans to mow this evening. The clover is shin-high, but I think it's going to stay that way a bit longer. We've used all the gas in the cans playing Chainsaw Wizard, so no gas to mow. I could say tacky things about MIL not offering gas to cull her broken branches, but I've been feeling rather trampled-upon by her of late. If I get started, who knows where or when it would stop. Sigh.
With gasoline being $3.49/gallon and climbing, I may just let the damned grass grow. A lovely advantage to living in the country is that there's no Lawn Police checking to see if your grass exceeds the 2.5" limit.
I picked up a Cross Country Stitching magazine at B&N last week. They have some cute, homespun-looking projects. One idea that I particularly like, the reason I bought the magazine, is the cross stitched Quilt Sampler, similar to the one Here. That's my project for this evening: Starting another UFO.
I stopped at Atwood's this afternoon and picked up a few vegetable plants. Since I didn't get off my lazy rear and get some seeds started, I'm doomed to store bought starts. Oh, well, better than nuttin'.

I have a tomato and a pineapple sage planted and that's it. If I don't get with it I'm not going to have a garden this year.
Love the Indian Paintbrush.
I don't feel so bad! My plan is to get this stuff planted before I kill it. Sadly, my track record isn't very good. :)
So that's Indian Paintbrush, I wonder what the plant that I thought was Indian Paintbrush is really called. Hmmmm.
Could still be.... according to this website: http://www.intangibility.com/inw/Wildflowers/Indian-Paintbrush.html there are several varieties.
OK, that didn't work. I'm going to split the URL. You'll have to paste it back together in the address bar.
