Wicked Patterns

I've been to ebay again! This pattern came as a result of someone at Apronista posting about smocking. I remember my mother would make me dresses with smocked bodices when I was in grade school. I remember that she would draw lines on pieces of fabric, but I didn't know how the did the smocking. This pattern explains it all. Whee!

Alatariel is my vintage clothing monster. She recently watched Roman Holiday and has gone on ad nauseum about the circle skirt that Audrey Hepburn wore. This batch of patterns will thrill her, particularly the skirt, if it is indeed a circle skirt. I'm not really sure. I have a feeling I'll be making 50's dresses this summer.

I didn't actually buy this next pattern - it's still out there on ebay somewhere. I did like the look, though. I think I can wing that little ruffle in the front without a pattern.

Great patterns. I wouldn't want to wear those dresses though. They look like they require lots of stiff, itchy petticoats. I remember those from when I was a kid, hated them.

She's ditch the petticoats and just let the skirts be flow-ey.

I used to look at the drawing on pattern envelopes when I was a kid and wonder why the finished product never looked quite like the picture...

Now I know: Artist's Rendering.
