Some People Are Beyond Stupid

Sadly, that group includes me.

We rehomed TJ this evening to a very sweet young couple who were elated to have him. On the way home, hubby spotted eyes in the ditch by the side of our country road, stopped, backed up, got out, and a little yellow and white long-haired kitty trotted up to him. Hub brought kitty to the truck where we loaded him up and went to the nearest house, a good distance away, to see if he belonged to them.

They wouldn't answer the door. I could see people moving around inside. Granted, unexpected guests after dark are questionable, but don't stand in the window and watch outside, for pity sake!

So, we decided to take kitty home since it's going to be cold tonight. Kitty was wet and smelly, so we were feeling very Cat-Samatarin-ish. Kitty thanked us all the way home. Over and over, "yeow! yeow! yeow! purrr! purrr! yeow!"

Kitty is now in the cat-bathroom howling, yeowling, and growling at my curious kitties who are peeking under the door trying to see the strange night visitor. Kitty has not shut up since we got home. Kitty is making me regret that I gave him the clean litter box while my house cats have to use the one that's been scooped for a few days.

I can tell it's going to be a long night. Dumb cat doesn't know someone did it a favor. I bet this is the last time Hubby stops for eyes in the dark! Alatariel is making plans to sleep with ear plugs.

Tomorrow I'll be putting up some Found Cat posters around where we picked him up. If no one claims him in 24 hours, he's going to the lady who wants barn cats.

I cannot save the entire cat population.
I cannot save the entire cat population.
I cannot save the entire cat population......

I guess it's your job to run the kitty rescue in your area! Hopefully he'll calm down pretty soon.
