How I Spent My Christmas Vacation

Christmas Day was a quiet day for us. MIL got a more exciting offer and went off to party with one of her friends for a few days. Hubby, Alatariel, and I went to see Valkyrie, and unfortunately got there just in time for single seating. No one in the audience would shift to make more seating available, and the theatre employees didn't have a clue as to how to fix the situation. We ended up sitting on the second row, which was a little too close to Tom Cruise's nose hairs for me. The perspective from under the screen looking almost straight up gave everyone fat chins and pointy heads. I sat with my eyes closed for a good part of the film. We should have gotten refunds and tried later, except we'd already invested in $18 worth of popcorn (1 container) and drinks (2). When are we going to get some federal regulations on movie theater concessions?

After the movie, we thought for sure we'd find some place open to eat. We did: Sonic Drive In. Steak & Rings for two, chezburger for the kid. Romantic.

Dinner was followed by driving around looking at Christmas lights. Remind me never, ever, in this lifetime or the next to allow Hubby to drive the car on a light-sighting expedition. His idea of looking at Christmas lights is to fly down the main arteries of Tulsa, 45 mph, and point to a business with a string of lights in the window, "Look, there's some!" Yes, he can be a rear when he wants.

We spent the weekend with his dad and stepmom - the most wonderful people I could hope to meet. #1Son, DIL, grandson6years and granddaughter6mos came Saturday. I actually enjoyed them. Hubby's sister and kids came over Sunday. Ala hadn't seen her cousins for 5 years. After eyeing each other from across the room for, oh, ten minutes or so, they were off giggling and goofing off together. They exchanged cell phone numbers, then sat in the den and sent text messages to each other. Yes, they were less than six feet apart, texting. They had a blast. On the three hour drive home, I could hear the little cell phone qwerty keyboard clicking away. They've been back & forth all day today. Thank goodness I went for that unlimited text plan. And I thought she wouldn't use it....

Hubby is looking at other jobs, one in Columbia, MO, for starters. That'll knock the wind out of my Dance Mom sails. On the upside, it's equidistant from Kansas City and St. Louis, where there are several dance studios from which to choose in either city. And shopping! Lots and lots of shopping!

Now, how do you move with 20 cats?

TJ is being rehomed tomorrow. The rest of the kitties are passing around a bug. I'm taking Bear to the vet tomorrow to see if we can isolate the cause and fix it for good. Fortunately, I started dosing TJ the minute the first kitty got sick, so he hasn't come down with the crud.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I hate sitting up close in movie theaters. I like to sit right in the middle. The food and drink prices are outrageous! Glad you had a good Christmas!
