Alatariel and I are journeying to The Big City today to deliver my appointed baby contribution, the car seat. I purchased a $200 Eddie Bauer seat that will accomodate the child from birth until she's in the first grade. I'm sure it won't be good enough.
When I mentioned to my son that I was watching for a good deal with an Ebay seller who sold new car seats (I distinctly remember telling him they were new), my lovely and charming daughter-in-law immediately started stressing that I would purchase a used carseat of "unknown condition." This carseat is in a sealed carton. Perhaps I will be redeemed.
As I said before, I'm tired of the subtle implications that I'm stupid.
To soothe my ruffled feathers, I'm planning to visit OKQuiltworks while in OKC. I found them last night while chasing chickens (I'm not ADD, I'm... look! a chicken!). It started while looking at ebay for contrasting fabrics that might go with my coffee fabric.... it's been calling me lately. I saw Blank Textiles' Ovarian Cancer designs, and went to Blank's website to investigate the inspriation designs. They had a link to retail stores, where I found OKQuiltworks. I cannot tell you how thrilled Alatariel was when I told her I had found a quilt shop to visit. Not.
I have no $$ for more fabric - I just dumped $100 on a tire for my car yesterday. I had a leaking tire, so I took it in to have it fixed. What they found was a nail and a goose egg, so I ended up replacing it. I noticed when I left that the new tire was not the tire that was leaking, so I had to go back to get the original hole plugged. I consider myself lucky that they misunderstood which tire had the leak and checked the wrong one. Broke, but lucky.
I'm off to have breakfast and then hit the road. TTFN!
