Another chapter in the Ralphie chronicles....
Ralphie's new mom has continued to stress over Ralphie's happiness. He wouldn't come downstairs, and he'd cry when he was alone. When Mom went upstairs, the house dogs had fits because they couldn't go with her.
We emailed back & forth a few times, until last nigh I finally I told her that he was causing so much angst that maybe I should just come pick him up.
When I heard from her today, she said that Ralphie finally came downstairs, ate his dinner on the dining table, and has figured out that he can jump up on the table and counters to get away from the dogs. Here's the clincher: they were so concerned that Ralphie was unhappy because he'd grown up with cats and now only had dogs in the house, that they got Ralphie his very own kitten to play with! She said Ralphie is just like "mom" to the little kitten, and the kitten follows Ralphie around everywhere.
How's that for trying to make your pets happy?
We have to travel West on Friday and Saturday. I think I'm going to drive back Friday to keep Laurel from having to haul all her school books over and sit in a motel room all day studying. Then Hub and The Boss can work undisturbed on Saturday, and La and I will go back and pick him up. Lots of driving. My car will be celebrating its 200,000th milestone very soon!

I'm glad that Ralphie is happy now. We're thinking about getting a puppy for Sassy to play with.
