Frugal Friday

My house is long, the water heater sits about in the middle, and both baths with tubs are on the far ends. Shower time means running a lot of water down the drain before it gets hot. Hubby has mentioned investing in those under-the-sink hot water tanks, or the gadget that recirculates the water until it gets hot. Let's see, need an electrician to install electricity under the sinks, plumber to install the water heaters, the actual heaters themselves..... can you say "Sell the first born child"? Oh, can't do that. He's married and doesn't live here any more. His wife probably won't let me trade him in.

Redneck solution:
An empty bucket sitting in the shower to collect water. NOTE: Don't use this particular bucket if it's still full of cat litter!

So, now what? Use it to flush, or pour it in the washer for the next load of clothes. My washer is in the center of the house near the hot water tank, so I'm not going to slop a bucket of water through the house to dump it in the machine. It'll go down the bidet and save a few flushes each day.

My water bill has been running around $40 a month of late. It'll be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

I downloaded Firefox3 and it $uck$. I'm off to find a way to install the last version.
