My New Vintage Singer 401 Slant Needle Sewing Machine

It'll be here Tuesday. This is the same model machine I learned to sew on. I remember this sitting in its cabinet against the wall between the kitchen and dining room. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and hear Mom sewing on some new garment, either for her or for me. The machine is gear driven and runs sooo smooth and easy.

When I was in high school, Mom and Dad bought me my own machine, a Brother portable. It bounced around on the table when I sewed. I hated it.

After I grew up and moved away, I bought my own new Singer. It bounced around on the table when I sewed. I still have it. I hate it to this day. Nothing has ever run as nicely as Mom's sewing machine.

Once this one arrives, I may sell my newer Singer. Now, if the 401 fits in my grandma's sewing cabinet, I will be one Happy Camper!

That is so cool! Looks like it's made out of real metal instead of plastic too!

You're right - it's all metal. I'm quite excited!
