I just came from Aunt Jo's picture blog where she posted a photo of her beautiful lilac leafed out and blooming. All I have are buds. My lilac was not happy about all the rain we had last summer and I'm afraid part of it died. We lost a huge forsythia to the rain, too.
The lilac is a grandchild of my grandmother's lilac. Keeping my fingers crossed that it survives.
Alatariel and I went to the dollar store in my local town to pick up some necessities. At the check out, I overheard a conversation between the manager and the clerk regarding prospective employees. Seems no one could pass the background check, and the one person who did had already taken another job. They were down to their last applicant, someone who was pregnant. Seems they weren't ecstatic over that one.
I inquired about the position, and apparently they are desperate for someone to come in and work. I offered the possibility of a couple of closes during the week and maybe one shift on the weekend. When I threw in that I'd worked in retail management for over six years, those sweet ladies started a Happy Dance.
I filled out an application for them, and now I have the big book of employment paperwork to fill out. If they will keep it to under 15 hours per week, I can do this. It will get me out of the house a bit, and I won't be sitting in front of the tube stuffing my face for those 15 hours. I understand it's not the most pleasant place to work. We'll see what happens.
I shall try to remember that tomorrow is Thankful Thursday!

I hope the lilac survives, they are so pretty. I also hope the job works out for you. It'll mean extra money to buy fabric!
I inspected the lilac this afternoon. I really think it's kinda dead. Bah. It had just started blooming 2 years ago.
Hey, I didn't think about the fabric angle! :D
