Washing Machine Blues

<-- I went to high school here, circa: dark ages, before the invention of dirt, before carpeted hallways and central heat and air. Notice the window unit air conditioners in some of the windows? They weren't there when I had to swelter in that building. I have fond memories of bumping into the hot radiators and sporting huge blisters afterwards. The building is no longer used for education. It was long ago replaced by an air conditioned, carpeted school. This building is now a museum. That's cool in itself.

Saturday afternoon I loaded up the washing machine with the first of many loads of clothes, only to have the darned thing quit! Fortunately, it was just the belt which gave up the ghost after 14 years of faithful service. Unfortunately, I was hoping just a little bit that the transmission gave out. I'd love to have a shiny new washer & dryer to replace the mismatched set I have now. Well, it wasn't in the cards (or the budget for that matter). Maybe for Christmas.

I've had my nose buried in my accounting book for the past two days. The tax forms are killing me. The exercise says: Child care payment, $950. Does that mean a payment into a flex account, or an overpayment above the limit? Who knows. If I make a C in this class, I'll be happy.

I love that building, it's gorgeous. They tore down my old high school. In fact they built a new high school the year I graduated and now that school is considered old. Sigh.

Hmmm... does that make us old, too? Nah!

What a cool building.

My old high school is still standing. I find it amusing that both of my parents went to the same school, in the same building, that all of my siblings attended. I even had some of the same teachers.

I think my mom may have gone here, too. Some of my teachers came over on the Mayflower, so she probably had them. My 7th grade math teacher looked like (Driving) Miss Daisy and had the temper of a wet cat.
