The exercise bike has arrived, is assembled (such a good hubby!) and Alatariel is whirling away as I type. Only issue I see with it: the seat is horrible. Maybe I can strap one of the sofa cushions to it.....
We had a lovely drive to McAlester. The weather was beautiful, even if windy. The lady from whom we bought the bike was very nice. She had listed the bike on Ebay before and no one bought it. I guess it was waiting for us.
I took Ala for a stroll down memory lane, showing her my childhood haunts and telling her stories of when I was growing up. She enjoys afternoons driving around and talking. She said she had a really nice afternoon. So did I.
Pictured above is the Okla movie theater, where I found my first job working in the concession stand, and found my first "real" kiss in the balcony. I can't find the right architectural jargon to describe its interior, by now in ruin, I'm sure. I watched King Kong vs. Godzilla, The Sound of Music, and James Bond movies here, among countless other theatrical adventures.
It saddens me to think that this local landmark will probably be destroyed in a few years. If I were a wealthy person, I'd restore it to its past grandeur. Unfortunately, I'll have to let it go.

The seat on my bike is a painful thing too.
I love just driving around. I know gas is high but sometimes you just gotta get out of Dodge.
It's a shame that they destroy old buildings, why can't they preseve them instead.
Bike seats are just torture. Plain and simple.
I love old buildings.
