NEWS BULLETIN

I can see very large areas of carpet in my sewing room. I have very large trash bags full of cull. I dare not peek in the bags for fear of seeing something that I might decided I need to keep because I might need it. Someday. I even threw away old coloring books in which Alatariel made a mark or two when she was a toddler. That was really difficult.

This morning we got all dolled up and went to Christkindlmarkt put on by the German American Society of Tulsa. One of the vendors made bobbin lace, and she will show anyone who's interested how to make the lace. I think I'll call GAST later in the week and see if she's available for some tutoring. It looks like something I'd want to do but never will, along with all my other projects.

Alatariel spotted a nice little pitcher made in Frankfurt, and of course, Mom and Dad spoiled her a little more and got it for her.

She's now been working on her Irish dance solo dress design with the Frankfurt Coat of Arms on the front kick pleat, and Celtic knots on the bodice and side pleats. She wants to celebrate her German-Irish heritage. She also wants to incorporate USA somewhere in the dress, but hasn't figured out where, as yet.

GAST also gives lessons in conversational German. Ala has been after me to investigate the how-to's for quite some time. I suppose I now shall.

While they had quite an offering of food items, we got there right at noon and the lunch line was quite long. We opted for lunch at Mac's Grill at 81st and Lewis. You can't beat the burgers, fries, or fried mushrooms - not like any you'll find elsewhere.

Naturally, there was no diet today.

I picked up a couple of items on ebay. First, a set of stoneware that I had when we lived in Denver, but sold in a garage sale when we moved back here. I managed to not sell the coffee cups, and every time I've gotten one out of the cabinet to use, I've regretted unloading the rest of the set. It's nothing special, it's just cute.

Next, I bought a dichroic glass heart shaped pendant. Those retail for upwards of $50. I picked one up for $25. I bit on several of the artist's pieces before I finally won. She apparently has quite a following.

Sounds like you've been busy.

Those dishes are cute! I've done stuff like that and then regretted it years later.

From one German-Irish girl to another, Go Ala!
