When the Frost is on the Punkin

I had to memorize that poem in grade school . It haunts me to this very day.

Things I did today:
  1. Went to the craft mall to discover that someone had opened all my cd's that I had for sale and removed the discs, leaving the empty jewel case. Ha! Joke's on them. I still get to look at the pictures. Oh, did I mention that the cd's were all by Christian artists? People like that give God a bad name.
  2. I dragged a brand new shelving unit into the mall, only to drag it back out once I discovered the theft. I decided I needed to think on things before deciding whether to continue my relationship with this place.
  3. I decided that I will go one more month with only items for sale that are too large to fit into pockets. If people manage to steal a 12" tall glass vase, then I know for sure I'm in the wrong place.
  4. I warmed up my Kohl's charge card with a little Christmas/birthday shopping. Found some lovely $30 throws on sale for $13.99, plus the 15% discount coupon clenched in my sweaty little hand... made my pocketbook very happy. Mom will get one for her birthday next week, MIL will get one for Christmas.
  5. Went to Target to get Kcups. We're starving for coffee, and Target was out of Caribou brand. Again. Sigh. Internet shopping, here I come.
  6. Went to Hobby Lobby armed with my 40% off coupon and came home with 5 yards of mint green flannel for $1.60/yd savings. Very exciting. I see lots of receiving blankets emerging from my serger in the near future.
  7. Had salads at Wendy's. Would muchly have preferred a single, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, fries, Coke, and Frosty. Maybe in my next life I'll be inherently skinny.
I had the "what do you want for Christmas" conversation with Hubby this morning. I got the stock "I dunno" answer. So I made a proposal, that we take a class at TDSA together in the spring, and that will be our gift to each other. He wants to take the advanced pistol class, and since the advanced women's class was canceled last month due to lack of interest (or, as my husband was told by the instructor, because "there's no one I'd trust to be in that class except for your wife"), this appears to be the best alternative.

Step-MIL's house.... I love this place. In my next life, when I'm inherently skinny, I want a house like this.

The kitchen is very long - I presume some part of it used to be a porch and/or garage at one time. The stove sits in a neat alcove-like area, and the cabinets have built-in cutting boards that slide out from underneath the countertops. It's a dream to have all that space on which to stack dirty dishes.
At one end of the kitchen is a hutch that's always decorated for the current season. Seriously, any time you walk into step-mil's house, you've walked into an issue of Southern Living. Amazes me that she can keep up with it all. I suppose that, when the kids are grown and gone, and you then have enough money to afford a housekeeper, it's easy to do stuff like this.

Is that snow at your place? All we got is a little rain and now we're getting strong winds. Your MIL's house is goregous!

Don't I wish! That was in Fairview on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Thank you on MIL's behalf.
