This afternoon, Hubby, Alatariel, and I packed ourselves in the pickemup truck and headed to The Big City for an evening on the town.
First stop - the moving picture theater where we watched Enchanted. Despite Hubby's eye-rolling at having to suffer through a chick-flick with his two favorite girls, he managed to chuckle several times through the movie.
The opening animated sequence of the movie was one laugh after another. When Disney spoofed the fairy tales, they really did a good job. Later in the film, an elaborate musical scene in the park makes the movie. The whole corny, cheesy thing was quite enjoyable. While Hubby won't be open to multiple viewings, Ala and I will probably see it again, or buy it when it's released on DVD.
The Susan Sarandon character was right up her alley; evil, conniving, power hungry, manipulative. The costume and makeup for Queen Narissa is outstanding. Watching her performance of the Old Hag, however, left me wondering if she was even in makeup for the part or if they just left her fresh-faced and clean.
After the movie, we stopped for pizza, then went to Barnes & Noble to spend a small fortune. We rarely walk out of there without spending a hundred dollars. I'm a sucker for books.
We decided that was enough time spent living beyond our means, and came home after that!
I'm recouperating from a sudden onset of sneezy/stuffy/general malaise. I woke up with it Thursday and it's lingering. I've had enough already.
Other than that, nothing much has happened. I'm still waiting for that bonus check to arrive to see how much Hubby is truly appreciated. In the meantime, I visit Dice on a daily basis to see if there's a better opportunity waiting for him.
