It annoys me when folks don't remember what they say.
The Red Hat group to which I belong will not be having a gathering in December, so I'll miss wearing the Purple Birthday Hat on my 50th birthday when I officially cross the bridge from Pink Hatter to Red Hatter. In a conversation with The Queen, I mentioned this, and she said she'd bring the birthday hat to today's event and we would celebrate my birthday early.
Fine by me. I donned my red clothes today rather than lavender duds and pink hat, and went to the luncheon. When I asked where the purple hat was, The Queen said, "Oh, it's not your birthday yet. You're not old enough to wear the purple hat. We'll do it in January."
OoooKaaay. Left me feeling a might bit stupid and put in my place. Even more annoying is that my third Saturday in January is already booked, so I won't even be there. By February, who cares??
That's off my chest. I feel better now.
That was the most exciting thing that's happened all day, with the exception of Aunt Jo finding the instruction manual to my old Singer machine online. That's way cool. Aunt Jo rocks!
When Hubby got dinner hungry, we did the "What do you want to eat?", "I don't know, what do you want?" dance. Then he got creative. He requested baked ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls.... OK - we're talking three people, not a family reunion.
I did have ham, so I stuck that in the oven.
I drained a can of whole green beans into a pan, added some water and butter, in that simmered cubed potatoes until tender, then heated the green beans with the potatoes.
Made a dinner salad.
It was an easy but formidable dinner, and Alatariel ate green beans.
I repeat - Alatariel ate green beans.
That's one for the history books.

Annie, I'm sorry that happened. How awful for you.
Come down here and we'll have a birthday blowout.
So why did Ala only eat green beans?
Hey! Thanks for thinking I rock. That's a first for me.
Thanks, Jo. I survived, anyway. Next time I'm over, we'll do a belated birthday bash.
Ala ate it all! But eating the green beans was monumental. She liked them cooked with the taters, and she mixed her ham with it, too.
I've always thought you rock. Haven't I told you that before? Well, then, I'm way behind!
That dinner sounds yummy. Sorry that you were embarrassed at the Red Hat meeting. She should have remembered.
Gotcha! I thought she only ate greenbeans.
