Peacocks

I fell in love with this fabric when it came out as the Hoffman challenge fabric in 2008. I put it in my shopping cart at least four times at e-quilter.com. For various and forgotten reasons, I never actually purchased it. Today I visited e-quilter to see if they still had it. Lo and behold - it was there! I ordered two yards, only to find they only had 3/4 yd left. It's a 24" repeat, so that wouldn't work.

I sleuthed around Al Gore's internet for a bit, and found the fabric at jukeboxquilts.com. The store didn't appear to have much of anything, but they did seem to have plenty of this fabric. I completed my order for 2 yards. If I'm lucky, I'll get two complete repeats of the design.

My first project is to take one panel to a frame shop and have it dry mounted and framed. My mother did this several years ago. Her choice was a large design of red flowers, approximately 4' in length. It made stunning wall art.

If I'm lucky enough to have a second complete panel, I may quilt it for a throw, or embellish it for a wall hanging.

I'm excited to have finally gotten this. I'm famous for thinking, "I'll get this later when I can better afford it." I've missed out on so many thing by doing that!

On the homefront - I'm still trying to put away junk and get all the boxes unpacked. Most rooms in the house are in some state of partial-paintedness. Most of the red walls are covered, but some bits still peek thru here and there. I've started on the royal blue sewing room, covering the walls with layers of white paint. As small as the room is, I can't see having it anything but white to reflect light and make it feel bigger.

Work is good. I haven't had any run-ins with anyone since that one episode. Hub and I had lunch with the boss a few weeks back, and it apparently caused quite a stir that I went. Jealousy and territorialism run deep. I'm prepared for my evaluation to say that I'm not a team player, but I have my response floating around in my head: Tried that once and got in trouble for something I didn't do. I'll keep to myself, thanks.

Good thing I am quite a fan of foods that aren't good for me or I might have been put off by that deep fried sugar coated lard comment! LOLOL Isn't it funny that the smell is what I best remember from a couple of trips through Amarillo almost 30 years ago? (And speaking of which, where on earth does the time go?) I love this fabric and am excited to see and hear what you do with it! And those office haters just are not very nice! How is Joy?

Wow that fabric is very beautiful! I'm glad things are going better at your work. Office politics is ridiculous.

I'm not a team player either...and I eat with the supervisor every time she comes to town because nobody else wants to talk to her.
