Merry Christmas

It's Christmas morning and everyone is still snuggled all warm in their beds. Quite time for Mom.
There's snow on the ground.... a rare Christmas treat. The winds stopped howling sometime in the middle of the night. The cats are all lined up at the patio door watching the squirrels play in the yard. It's peaceful.
Our plans to cover the state visiting family have been postponed. All interstates and toll roads were closed yesterday, and who knows when they'll open again? Even when traffic is moving, the roads will be slick. We can have our family gatherings another time.

I do wish I was still at the farm this morning. If I were there, I would have been outside with my camera at dawn's first light, capturing the beauty of the rising sun and the sparkling snow. As it is, I'm in my recliner surfing the net.

We never got a tree this year. Although we managed to get most of the Christmas decorations moved, they're stacked in boxes in the front room. I wanted an artificial tree for the formal living room but never found anything taller than seven feet. With ten-foot ceilings, I wanted a really tall tree!

We did manage to put up some lights in the windows, but never remembered to turn them on.

Someone had sent me an email about the commercialization of Christmas which I forwarded to Ala, who, in turn, asked if we could not blow a lot of money this year. After all, we don't need anything, and what we do need, we buy when we need it. So this year, we have no wrapped presents to be opened.

We're going to visit Hubby's father & family for Christmas on January 2. I will pick up a few modest things for that trip. I've already asked that part of the family to leave Hubby and me out of the gift-buying frenzy.

It's not that I'm a Scrooge (well, maybe). We still haven't sold the farm, and the upkeep on three homes (minimal utilities on the two at the farm plus frequent trips across state to check on things) is not enormous but does cost.

All in all, we're quite blessed. We have a warm and happy home, our health, and fourteen happy pets who are devoted to us. I have cherished friends, many I've met online, some who have put up with me for most of my adult life.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you & yours! We have our Christmas on New Years every year so we're not competing with the other grandparents for time with our grandboys & they think it's cool to get Christmas spread out like that.
Love ya bunches for years & years!

Looks like you had a nice Christmas. We had to get BIL to come dig our car out of the snow then we went to FIL for a little while. We opted out of the gift buying frenzy several years ago.
