Remember those Riverdance tickets I bought for the dancing daughter? She'd rather stay home and take in the four baseball games that same weekend!
Anyone want to go to St. Louis to see Riverdance on May 2? I've got two tickets, Mezzanine center, probably fairly decent seats.
It surprised me to hear that she wanted to stay home. Several years ago, Riverdance was in Oklahoma City, and we didn't get over there to see the show. It's always been a given that, if the chance came around again, we'd go. Period.
We only got 2 tickets, even though Hubby was going to make the trip with. He said he'd drop us at the theater, then come back and pick us up. He would like to see the show, he said, but adding a third ticket to the mix put the tab at $200. He opted to sit this one out.
It hasn't gotten past La that her dad loves the baseball games, not to mention she loves them too. Considering I sent all my savings to the Feddy Govamint last week, we have payments going out in all directions for her medical bills plus some for mine, our designated dog-sitter moved away (MIL), who the heck are we going to get to come scoop litter boxes three times a day for three days, and she didn't want to do something that would exclude Dad, La decided she'd rather we stay home. I think ball game guy-watching played at least a minor part in the decision, also.
For the money we would spend making a flying trip to St. Louis and back, we can have a really nice family weekend at home. How cool to have a teenage daughter who sees the value of family time.
Oh, one other thing: Sunday, May 3, is her eighteenth birthday, and she wants to be home on Monday, May 4, so she can register to vote (Republican, let there be no doubt).
Other ramdom thoughts:
I have new glasses picked out and waiting for me to decide whether I want single vision or bifocals. I'm so glad that eyewear styles are moving away from the heavy, squinty-looking frames. Granted, there are still plenty of those to go around, many in quite garish colors. I, however, was able to secure a pair of Elizabeth Arden windshields in genuine pastel plastic. I'm thrilled. Seriously. I'm not a small person. I don't look good in small glasses.
Now... do I want single vision? bifocal? trifocal? multi-focal? the "new&improved" multi-focal? Too many choices, and I'll certainly pick the wrong one.
I'm also giving a new pair of Oasis contact lenses a test drive. So far, they're doing better than any I've tried since my 2002 dance with Bell's Palsy, which left my left eye extremely dry. It's a pain to have to stick reading glasses on my face with contacts (the joys of getting old and wearing out!) but it's OK to do on occasion.
Thankful Thursday is coming up in a few hours. If you don't know what I'm thankful for, just reread those first few paragraphs.

Oh boy! If I had the money, I'd take those Riverdance tix off your hands. St. Louis is a drive for us, but worth it for this one. We'd just have to either ante up for a hotel or drive back home afterwards (about 5 1/2 hours) through the night.
Anyway, what a sweetheart you have in Ala (I am still using her LHC name, aren't it?)...And a Republican too? Nice to know there are some young kids out there who still hold onto some of the "old-fashioned" values!
Wow that is a very special daughter you have there!
