Today I'm thankful that God is smiling on us.
We hit the road bright and early (well, beneath dreary cloud cover and threat of showers)for OKC to visit the Baptist Village retirement center. MIL, MIL's BFF, La, and I all piled in MIL's car - me behind the wheel - and off we raced like a herd of turtles.
To recap earlier events: Several weeks ago, Hubby and I had gone to tell MIL that we were going to have to move closer to the office, but MIL surprised us by announcing that she was ready to give up her home and move someplace where she would have assistance if needed. Mind you, at 89 years old, she gets around just as well as I do, but she's come to terms with her age and possibilities of health issues that might be over the horizon.
She expressed interest in the BV center, so I made arrangements for a tour of the facility today. I was told that there was a waiting list of about two dozen names for independent living apartments, so we thought maybe we'd have her settled in by the end of summer, if things moved along quickly.
BV had an opening Today! MIL signed the lease. She can pick up her keys next Friday.
Wow!
If I can get our place spruced up and sold with such ease, I'll be a happy mover!

Wow it's great that she could get in so soon. I hope you can sell your place soon too.
What a true blessing! I can't believe at 89 she gets around so well (or sigh...that you get around so poorly??? LOL)! That too is a blessing. Probably some people need to be shuffled to the end of the list if they can't get out of current committments quick enough, I would suppose. Anyway, I answered your flower question in the comments on whatever entry of mine that was! (I forget! LOL) I hope your place goes quickly too! Does Ala mind changing schools?
Hi Ms. Annie. I awarded you a blog award, a SisterHood Award, because I visit your blog so regularly and I enjoy reading your writing and following your days. You don't have to but if you want to, pick it up at my place! It's yours. :)
Thank you Liliana! That was an unexpected surprise!
Autumn Leaves, I'd say MIL and I meet in the middle somewhere! I don't get around as well as I should, and she gets around much better than she should!!
La only has to pack her laptop, books, and classroom instruction DVD's and she takes school with her... one of the advantages of home schooling!
Hooray for getting MIL settled so quickly.
You need to hurry up and move down here and help me with this house. :)
