I spent the better part of this evening ironing fabric. I started washing last night and have several pieces washed, ironed, folded, and waiting to be cut.
The one piece that's still laying over the back of the recliner is 5 yards of flannel. Why I washed that one, I dunno. My intentions for it was to cut into 36" squares and serge the edges to make receiving blankets. Now I have a mess of flannel to iron. That one won't be fun.
As I stood in the living room ironing endless sheets of material, I wondered if this was how exciting life was "back in the day." You know, when the sheets, pillowcases, dishtowels, and underwear all got ironed. Makes me happy for wash & wear. The daughter and I made several trips into Tulsa this weekend to take advantage of different special; a 40% coupon from JoAnn's that expired Friday, a 40% coupon from Hobby Lobby that expired Saturday (forgot to take it Friday), and today's sale on McCalls patterns, 5/$5 at Hancocks. We picked up the dance dress pattern and confetti sequin fabric in two colors. She couldn't decide if she wanted red or dark green, so Mom spoiled the girl and bought both.
Hancock's had the cutest little portable sewing machine on sale for $39. Not exactly something I need. All of my machines are portable, for that matter; they just aren't miniature and so cute. I was strong and didn't buy one. It was tough.
I won some Kaufman quilt squares on eBay. This might be a good thing for me - precut coordinated fabrics. See, I can't go in a fabric store and buy just a quarter of a yard for quilt pieces. I have to have two or three yards just in case I want to use it for something else. Enough fabric for a quilt on eBay
might cost me $5-7.00, while buying it in a store could run upwards of $40. I thought Hubby might be a little annoyed that I was now buying fabric online. He merely commented that as long as I provide him favors, he'll make sure my habit is covered. ;)I found this gorgeous panel at equilter.com that I want to get - it's a 24" repeat... it would be dazzling if it were mounted and framed. Mom did that to a piece of fabric with large flowers on it. Of course, I'd have to buy several yards so I could frame one and have extra to do something with. ;D
I've been buying two kinds of cat food - inexpensive bulk food for the barn cats and premium food for my babies. Hubby asked why they couldn't all eat the same thing. Well, I didn't really have a reason other than I wanted to spoil the eight house cats. So I moved them off the pet store brand and started them on the grocery store brand. The poor cats started losing their lunch all over the house. For the past five days, the babies have been in distress. I was so concerned, I even bought Nutrical and started syringing it down their throats. I decided to switch back to a premium brand, and for good measure, I bought a sensitive stomach formula. No cookie tossing today. Whew! I hope that was the only problem. I don't have the budget for a multi-cat trip to the vet (too much fabric to buy).
My payroll text book arrived yesterday. I have read chapter 1. Well, scanned was more like it.
Tomorrow it's back to the hum-drum routine. Work a little, cook a little, clean a little, do some real laundry.

Wow you have some really pretty fabric there. I know how you feel, I hate to buy just a little piece too.
I understand about the kitties and their food. My DH thinks Scruffy should be able to eat cheap food, but she throws it up so I buy the good stuff. The cheap stuff is basically junk food. At least that's what I think.
Now if I could get over my cutting phobia.
I think it was the cat food. No one has had any trouble since I ditched the Little Friskies. My kitties have discriminating taste!
Beautiful fabric! I have the same cutting phobia and sometimes I have to close my eyes.
Sorry to hear the kitties were poorly. Glad it was only the food change and nothing more serious.
Thank you. I finally ironed the 5 yards of flannel. I won't do that again. Ala and I went to Wal Mart to look for lining fabric for her dress, and guess what I found??? More cutsie fabric to add to my stash.
Hi, Annie, just wanted to pop in and say hello, and what do I see but all your beautiful fabrics! I must admit, fabric is my weakness, it's the purchase I cannot resist. Like you, I tend to buy wayyyyy too much, I am never satisfied with a half-yard or yard cut!
Hi, Seabear! So nice to have you stop by.
Hubby just doesn't understand the fabric thing. Likewise, I don't under stand his cigar stash. My fabric stash takes up more room, but it doesn't stink. ;P
