My mother told me once that she felt sorry for me because my life was so hard. Really? I always though I had it pretty soft. Maybe she felt sorry for me because she always made my life so hard. Yah, that's probably it.
After Hubby's mother died, my mom decided to pull the same thing. Problem is, she didn't warn anyone, did it in the nasty heat of summer, and had the air conditioner turned off. Since she successfully alienated family and friends, it was about two weeks before the neighbor called the police to come break into the house to see if she was ok. Needless to say, she wasn't.
We had her remains cremated and held a small family-only graveside service for her. Now we're trying to get the estate settled. What she didn't tear up or let run down, her dog peed on. I have my work cut out for me.... MIL's house is full of stuff that needs to be set up for an estate sale, and the same at Mom's.
Heck, I don't even have all our stuff unpacked!
On the heels of MIL and Mom moving on, FIL died the end of August.
OK, I think we're about out of parents, so maybe things will settle down a bit!
Since we're now back in the country and enjoying random water and power outtages (just one of those fun things about being a country dweller), I'm working on stocking up what we call the storm closet. Besides an oversized pantry in the kitchen, we have shelves set up in the master bedroom closet where we store extra food and sundries. Water goes out... we have 50 gallons of drinking water on hand. Ice storm moves thru and we're stranded for a week... we have water, groceries, paper goods, candles, batteries, flashlights, camp stove, fuel, and a cord of wood in the back yard (I'd keep that in the closet, too, but not enough room).
Dear Daughter is dancing again with Academy of Performing Arts in Tahlequah (McCafferty Irish Dance) and so far she hasn't broken. She's having issues, but still dancing.
Hubby is taking her over tomorrow for a lesson, and I'm going to get the taxes wrapped up and filed. Yes, I am an extension filer. Why do on April 15 what I can avoid until October 15??

Oh man. You can't seem to catch a break. I'm so sorry to hear about the mothers and then FIL. I wish there was something I could do for you to help you through it.
All my love to whole family.
Wow you've had it rough all right. I'm glad that you were able to move back to the farm though.
