Saturday Slippin' Away

<-- A field of something up the road. It's never been covered in lovely orange flowers before, so my guess is: it's a crop, probably for the owner's cattle. Anyway, it's quite beautiful.

The day has slipped away. Hubby let me sleep until 9 a.m. after having to stay at the dollar store until after 11 p.m. last night while the freight truck was unloaded. I appreciate the thought, but it put me two hours behind all day long!

We finally made it to Home depot to rent the chipper. Hubby is outside chipping as I type. I begged off with the excuse of making supper. I have a pot of soup simmering, and I'm fixin' to get ready to whip up a batch of cornbread.

I'm taking my daughter to a sewing class. After one lesson, I fear she will be a perpetual student. The instructor is the sweetest lady who admited to (purposely, I feel) teaching other crafting classes. Ala asked about crochet and knitting, and yes, those are offered. Ala has tried to learn those things on her own. Unfortunately for her, I can barely sew or hold a crochet hook, and knitting is out of the question. While her grandmother is adept at those things, when Ala asks for instruction, the response is, "Just follow the directions." Hard to do if they don't make sense! I have failed my child in the grandmother department. Hey! That's not actually my fault, is it?

That field looks like it's full of stuff that makes me sneeze, pretty though. The instructions for crochet and knitting can be hard to understand. It's much better if someone shows you how.
