Quilting Pins

It was a beautiful day today. Warm, albeit windy, sunny, and it required open windows and some time sitting in the sun.

I finally made it to Wally World this afternoon and picked up a large box of quilting pins. Now, when my box of straight pins surfaces, I'll have both kinds. I reallllly like the quilting pins, though. They might just be my pin of choice from here on.

I got the baby blanket put together, turned, and the seams pressed. Tomorrow evening I'll try to get the edge embroidered and tie it. It's fashioned after a baby blanket that was given to me when Alatariel was born. She carried her blankie around for years. I've made a few for other new moms, and they have told me the blankets become the favorites. Well, it's possible they were just being polite. I'll put up a pictures when it's finished. Maybe I'll try my hand at selling some.

After pacing the house for three days because I was pinless, when I finally was able to sit down and start putting things together, Ala came in and asked to cut her quilt fabric. Sigh. I'm such a terrible mother. I've yet to teach the girl to sew.

Not that I'm any whiz kid at the sewing machine....

I found a sewing basket with large fold-out compartments that I showed hubby, dropping hints so big that they rattled the windows as they bounced around the room. Hubby asked if that would be preferable over peacock fabric. Dang. Can't I have booooooth? Well, I conceded that the sewing organizer would be a better choice, seeing as how I can't find my pins, nor my good shears, seam ripper, knit picker.... I'm thinking if I can keep it confined to a portable container, I can cart everything around and not lay things down or put them in "safe" places. Sound like a plan?

And here's another challenge I face (my life is so difficult). Every electrical outlet in this house is behind a danged piece of furniture! This makes it extremely difficult to iron, of all things! The iron cord ends up draped over or dragged around one thing or another. Well, today I found something that will solve the problem. I need a Roenta Expert ironing board. Not only does it have a rack, a clothes hanging rod, one of those antennae things that holds up the iron cord, and a large surface, it has a plug! Apparently the ironing board has a 7' cord that goes to the wall, then your iron plugs into the board (best I can figure, anyway.) Is that cool or what?? The sucker ain't cheep, so I'll be rat-holing some grocery money for a while before I get one of those.

I'm behind in my class already. I'll be making a concentrated effort on catching up this week and next.

Hub is snoring up a storm. Time to call it a night.

When I get the ironing board, you can come over and use it!

That sounds like the Cadillac of ironing boards. I'm not even sure where mine is. I've been using the built-in for the last three years. I need to find it for the sewing room.
