Time Flies....

When you're avoiding reality. ;)

Let's see.... the consultant search.... we offered positions to both of them, only to have the second one come back with an $8 and hour increase over the already-astronomical pay rate that we agreed upon. After some back&forth negotiations, the consulting firm managed the get both wages down enough that we're saving a combined $2/hour on the two. We now have two really sharp guys coming on board. Maybe soon I'll get to see hubby more often and on a regular basis!

I had my doctor appt on Monday. Hubby decided at the last minute that he'd go with me. We got a late start. Once there, he poked around the parking lot looking for a close place to park. I'm already 20 minutes past the "come early and fill out forms" time. He finally decided to let me out at the door and then park. Once inside the doc's office, the lady at the desk asked for my DL. I politely told her I preferred that she not copy it. She informed me that they scan it into their computer. Hello? I though HIPPA was about reducing sensitive information collected on patients. Not being in the mood to argue, I quickly accepted defeat, but I was really pissed about it. When they finally took me back, the nurse took my BP.... 160/108. Shazzam! It's never been that high! I got a lecture from the doc about my BP and about having mammograms. My family history on both sides is cardiovascular and neurological - no cancer. X-raying my boobs is not a big selling point with me. I'm more concerned with dropping dead from a heart attack (father), having a stroke (mother, grandmother) or going crazy (dementia & Alzheimer's, aunt & uncle) than I am with cancer.

Anyway, I got free BP meddies, made a gyno appt, and she's going to set something up with a orthopedic person for my back, knees, and feet. There was also something about an echo cardiogram, too. My doctor bill is going to be a gazillion dollars. Oh, well, maybe I'll live long enough to pay it! :)

BTW, I took my BP that evening and it was 120/78.

Tuesday morning was Callie's day at the doctor. She was spayed. The kittens celebrated their 6 week birthday Tuesday, so now Callie can spend the rest of her life being a lazy cat. Maybe if she's not birthin' babies all the time, she'll put on some weight. She's so skinny right now that her sides look like they touch. This litter of babies she had are all gorgeous. She did make pretty kitties.

Paws called and left me a message Monday about the feral kitties. I haven't had a chance to call them back as the lady is only home evenings and I've been busy every evening this week. I'll try to remember to take her number to class with me tonight and call her when I get out.

Last night, Hubby and I sat outside after dark (until we got tired of the skeeters) and watched the feral cats. I put food on the picnic table and then put my chair right next to the table to sit. The kitties are pretty untrusting, but they will jump up on the table to eat a couple of bites, then jump down, then jump up to eat, then jump down, then jump up, then jump down.... you get the picture.... they're pretty funny.

Tiger, the ferals' mama, got in my lap and snuggled, nuzzled, and purred for the longest time, then curled up in my lap contented to stay there. She would love to be someone's lap cat. If she didn't try to kill my inside cats, I'd let her come in sometimes.

Alatariel has decided to dance in the feis in Ft. Smith in November. She wants to do a figure (two-person dance) with her friend from dance class. After dance class last night, her shins were aching, so she took a long hot bath in epsom salts. I hope this heals soon!

Hubby spent Sunday playing with my laptop. He has gotten it to stop the BSODs at startup, but it still BSODs and shut down. Well, I'm shutting it down anyway, so I guess that's just an annoyance. I'll be sure to send my error report to Microsoft every day. :)

I'm becoming addicted to ebay.

My project for this weekend: Garage sales Saturday morning, try to unclutter Saturday afternoon, clean up my hobby room (again) and do some sewing. Maybe I'll actually make something worth while.... goodness knows I have enough pieces and parts to create something spectacular!

Doesn't sound to me like you need blood pressure meds. The blood pressure should be high all the time to require them, at least that's what I think. But then I didn't graduate from medical school either.

Well, it does bounce around quite a bit. I'd been keeping it to no more than 130/85, usually lower, but I stopped watching it in July. Old age plus getting fat and lazy certainly put me in a higher risk group. I'll take the stuff until I shed some potatoes, but I don't want to take them the rest of my life.

Oh dear, Annie! You must settle down, darlin'! That BP was a bit on the high side! Ah well...as you said, it isn't usually that high. I wish you luck on the potato losing (and please share the secret, as long as it doesn't include exercise and skipping anything yummy). Glad to know your husband will soon have a bit more time at home with you and Ala. I also hope her shins stop hurting. Glad to hear things are progressing.

I am a little hot-headed sometimes. Bet you never thought it, huh? :)

Unfortunately there's more to come... I got back the blood profile. It wasn't pretty.

Sigh.
