It doesn't seem possible that spring is making its way thru... when did we have winter? The mostly tepid winter weather was a disappointment after the local weatherman last fall predicted a dastardly winter. I had the storm closet stocked for being snowed in for days on end. Epic fail. Bah!
Tomorrow begins the process of saying goodbye to the last of the parents. Hubby's step-mother of 45 years died last week. After Hubby's dad died, I think she had nothing to live for and moved on.
I'm up and around from surgery - lumbar laminectomy and decompression. Sounds impressive, eh? I have a sweet 4" scar in the middle of my back that ends just about my waist. It looks like it's coming out of the head of my lower back butterfly tattoo. The procedure itself didn't seem like such a big deal. In the hospital, I was stiff and sore, but it certainly was not what I expected. What I didn't realize was that I was still enjoying the after effects of the anesthetic that was injected into the site. I was sent home the day after, and by evening I was in tears.
Oh, I had plenty of meddies to create a floating euphoria. I just expected the hospital cakewalk to continue through recouperation. Now, eight weeks later, I'm up and around, doing housework with only a little discomfort.
I would do it again (and some day may have to). For anyone considering this or any other back surgery, the best advice I can give you is to get a walker. Not for getting around the house - it's too heavy and hurts to push it around. But for hauling myself out of the recliner or off the bed, it was indispensible.
So what have the good folks at Blogger done to the site? Seems there's something new and screwed-up every time I come back. I can't figure how to get a picture where I want it. I really don't care to relearn this site every six months.
Moving on - have I mentioned my new business? I have an Irish dance supply company and it's quite a lot of fun. I carry dance shoes and accessories, and my business takes me to dance schools and competitions all over the South Central area. I still have my day job, but this is my fun job.
Last but not least, we are gluten free. La and I have had tummy troubles for a few years, and after several trips to doctors and a lot of wasted money, a sweet young PA told me last week to cut out the gluten. After a week off, I can see marked improvement. I guess the test will come about Wednesday, when we see if the carry-out pizza we had for dinner tonight undoes all my efforts. Wednesday is the funeral. Great timing for a binge.

Oh boy! You have been through so much since I last visited. In blog switching and all that entailed, I lost a couple of the blogs I followed. Also, if a long time goes between posts, I have let some of the old blogs go. Sad really because I always enjoyed reading them. Yours is no different. Color me happy that you are back home in the country, though I did love your little rental house. You guys have been through the mill though. I so hope things settle down and I wish for you much success with your new business!
I guess my short-term memory is a blessing. I tend to put things away and go on until the next weird thing happens. I sometimes wonder if I'm just a little callous (which I'm sure is my mother's fault - lol!). Thank you for the welcome back. I've missed blogging but usually don't think I have much to say. I guess that doesn't really matter - it's the therapy of "putting it out there" and the support of my cyber friends that is important. :)
