I haven't particularly enjoyed the trend that music has taken over the past 20 years. Having grown up listening to what is now considered "classic" rock, I've really gotten tired of listening to the same old Aerosmith cd's. Hubby is more into metal... I like the instrumentals but not the singing. It's just a little too monotone for this former student of classical music.
Last week, as I was listening to the random selections of music at Amazon - you know, the "people who bought this cd also bought...." suggestions - when I discovered symphonic metal. Oh, Em Gee! I'm hooked!
What I hate about it is that it apparently hasn't caught on in this country - we're still grunting and moaning and rapping. All the selections I saw were from Europe.
This is one of my favorites. I bought one of their cd's and will probably buy more. It's heavy metal with class.

It *is* a good video. I prefer a male voice, but her style is great. She's not dressed like a Madonna, thank you very much, or grabbing herself. Oh how refreshing that is in itself. The lyrics appear okay though I'm not sure I understand them. So many of the old hard rock and metal I don't listen to anymore because the lyrics are either s*xually depraved or evil. I've tried to find Christian artists that equal the old tunes, but they're just copies of the real thing usually. Kind of aping the world rather than showing ingenuity or any kind of newness. It's a bummer.
Anyways, excellent find and interesting post. I agree with you about the last 20 years! There's been some talented new artists, but the ones hand picked by the record companies get the contracts. It used to be, back in the day, the cream floated to the top. It's sad.
Man, I sound old. I gotta go to bed. lol.
I must confess that I love the oldies (50's, 60's, some of the 70's). Heavy metal, classical or otherwise, just really isn't something my head could stand. I do love jazz and blues though, too...As far as rap? Oy!
When I was a kid I listened to country music, not because I wanted to but because my dad controlled the radio. Now I love classical music.
