I forgot to take my camera last weekend. I didn't make much progress, however, due to some flub-ups by the Home Depot guys.
Back in May, when I first started color shopping, I ordered several quarts of paint in different colors and shades so I could do some test painting. For whatever reason, one person started mixing my order, and a second person came along and attempted to finish it. Some of the colors got mixed up due to failure to label the cans at the time they were mixed. Duh.
In the end, I came home with two cans of "Linen White," but one of those cans was labeled "Pot of Cream." When I was testing colors on the walls, I sampled the Pot of Cream can, liked it, and decided to use it on the walls.
I went back to HD and ordered a five gallon bucket of Pot of Cream, dragged it back to Mayberry, slapped it up on a couple of walls, and almost choked when I realized it was NOT the color I wanted.
Now along comes the Egyptian Nile green, the color I used behind the stairs. Liked it, ordered 2 gallons of it, finished the stair wall, and almost choked when I saw the colors were not even close. The first color (quart) had yellow tones and was spring-looking. The reordered color was olive drab. Very, very drab.
That brought my painting to a screeching halt. I spent the rest of the weekend spackling nail holes and caulking windows.
Fortunately for Home Depot, they did right by me (I really didn't want to start throwing paint at employees, but I was prepared to do so if necessary). Unfortunately, my original green quart of paint was an accident by some mixing machine malfunction, and they couldn't duplicate it. Pffft. I ended up choosing a substitute green, a little darker, but it might work out better. It looks very nice with the correct Linen White (new 5 gallon bucket).
I slapped primer over the dark wood varnished door frames and window frames.... knots in the stomach when I did it, but realistically knew that I'd never accomplish their restoration in time. Sigh.
So, back again this weekend. Aunt Jo has so generously offered her help in getting the paint up, and I've cajoled Hubby into going at least for a day. Maybe we can get it wrapped up this weekend. Hope so, 'cause I need to be home packing next weekend. The movers are coming the 27th!
Till the next update, ya'll take care, ya hear?

Oy! I'd be spitting nails with that kind of paint mix-ups! Hobby Lobby sells paint for the walls? I don't think I've seen that in the stores out here. Did you sell your place yet? I hope so! I know that is something that probably hangs over the head, yes? Still...it will be so nice to go from a mobile to a house, methinks. We recently made the move in the reverse direction and I have to say that I miss my house. Sigh...
Ok...I'll quit my complaining, envy your new home and getting Aunt Jo to paint with you, and look forward to seeing what you do with the place. I am expecting it to look wonderful!
Freudian slip! I'd rather be spending my time at Hobby Lobby than Home Depot!
I'm expecting to have some awesome photo updates after this weekend.
I'm glad you finally ended up with paint that you like! Looking forward to photos!
